Thanks to Elaine’s driving her Lexus hybrid SUV, I was able to take a present to Scott and Corey Sims on the birth of their baby, Sophia Jean. The drive from Elaine’s home in Santa Monica was to Carlsbad, then to Sumi’s rest home in San Diego, then back to Elaine’s. I’m sure the total miles was 350-400 miles. Elaine drove it all.

At Scott’s, the baby was one month and one day old. She is a beautiful baby and she should be–she has a beautiful heritage. Scott and Corey fixed up a baby’s room, right where the steps come to the second floor landing. A closet about half of one wall wide was full of clothes for her. I doubt that she will be able to wear them all.

It was good to see them happy. I got to carry Sophia for a half-hour or so. It was a bit shaky. I would be old enough at 87 to be Sophia’s great grandfather.

So I am talking with my dad, and he is talking about wanting to go somewhere….I skeptically asked where….wondering if it would be a long roadie. I asked again, and he said that he would like to see Scott’s baby. How glorious, he still wants to stay close to his late granddaughter’s husband, Scott, and see his new family. When I told Wendy what he said, she shared that he wanted to get a gift for the baby. She asked what kind, and he said, “Something practical, like a dress.” He was such a special man. Scott and I are trying to find the other photo of Dad holding Sophia. So much love.
